What is VBeam® laser treatment?

VBeam® is a pulsed dye laser that treats skin issues related to blood vessels. Whether you have rosacea, spider veins, or port-wine stains, a Vbeam laser is an excellent treatment option. It has been FDA-approved and used to treat these conditions for more than 20 years.

The VBeam laser system produces an intense burst of light that selectively targets and destroys the blood vessels of vascular lesions, without damaging the surrounding skin and tissue. The laser is tuned to a frequency that your blood vessels can absorb but your skin cannot. This process refines tone and texture in the treated areas and is effective for addressing vascular concerns, such as redness, visible veins, and certain types of scarring.

Clearer Skin In A Flash

What to expect during the VBeam procedure?

Pre-Treatment:

  • Avoid sun for 4-6 Weeks Before Treatment: Tan skin cannot be treated with a Vbeam device, as you risk burning the skin. Wear broad-spectrum sun protection with SPF 30 or higher on any exposed area every day.
  • Avoid Accutane (or isotretinoin products) for 6 months prior.
  • Do not use any retinol products (or products containing tretinoin) or exfoliants on the area to be treated for one week.
  • Avoid alcohol or taking Aspirin for 3 Days Before Treatment to reduce the amount of post-procedure swelling.

Treatment Day

During your session, your skin is cleansed, and protective eyewear is provided. The provider uses the VBeam® handpiece across the treated areas using predetermined laser settings to deliver targeted pulses of laser light to the treatment area. A cooling spray precedes each pulse to protect surrounding skin and enhance comfort.

Treat Veins And Stains

What Conditions Does VBeam® Treat?

VBeam® is designed for visible redness, broken capillaries, rosacea, spider veins, and vascular lesions such as cherry angiomas or port-wine stains. It also helps with some post-treatment bruising and red scars. These concerns often appear in the treated areas of the face, neck, chest, and legs.

Lasting Change

What Are the Benefits of VBeam® Laser Treatment?

With VBeam® treatment, patients can expect a reduction in visible redness and improved skin tone. Treated vessels fade over time, and the smoother, clearer surface allows other skincare and treatments to work more effectively. Because the laser settings are customized, the outcome appears natural and integrated rather than dramatic.

Benefits include:

  • Rosacea
  • Facial Veins
  • Scars and/or redness
  • Birthmarks
  • Spider veins
  • Angiomas

Fit Check

Am I a good candidate for VBeam® Laser Treatment?

You might be a good candidate for VBeam if you have rosacea, birthmarks, or visible blood vessels. Several factors, including your age, the type and severity of the skin discoloration, and the location on your body, can influence the best treatment option.

What to Expect as Your Skin Heals

VBeam® Recovery

The intensity and duration of your side effects depend on the aggressiveness of the treatment and your individual healing characteristics, but they usually last for a few days after treatment.

Recovery:

  • Swelling: You will notice most of the swelling the first morning after treatment, particularly under the eyes. Swelling usually lasts two to three days.
  • To minimize swelling, apply cold compresses to the treatment area for 10 minutes every hour.
  • Sleep elevated the first night. Use as many pillows as you can tolerate. Taking antihistamines (Claritin or Zyrtec) for 5 days may also decrease swelling
  • Redness: Most redness resolves during the first few hours after treatment, but a rosy ‘glow’ can remain for several weeks. If you wish, you can apply makeup immediately after treatment to minimize the redness.
  • Pain: Tylenol may be taken to reduce pain if necessary.
  • Crusting/Scabbing: If a crust or scab develops, allow it to fall off on its own. Do not pick at the area. Keep the area hydrated until the crust falls off.

Post-Treatment:

  • Avoid excessive heat for 2 days post-treatment, avoid activities that will heat up your skin, such as going in a hot tub/jacuzzi/sauna, or strenuous exercise.
  • All of your skin care products should be non-irritating and non-clogging for the first week. Avoid any scrubs, toners, glycolic acid, retinoids (RetinA or retinol), or bleaching creams (hydroquinone) until your skin has healed.
  • Proper and frequent application of sunscreen is very important. The sunscreen should offer broadband protection (UVA and UVB) and have a sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or more. You should apply sunscreen 20 minutes before going outside, and again, immediately before. After that, reapply your sunscreen every 2 hours. If direct sun exposure is necessary, wear a hat and clothing that covers the treated area. Especially use this regimen during the healing period.

VBeam®

Frequently Asked Questions

The VBeam pulsed dye laser delivers a powerful yet gentle burst of energy to precise locations on the skin through several different micro-pulses of yellow light.

Depending on the size of the treated area, sessions may take from ten minutes to about thirty minutes.

It is advisable to avoid sun exposure before and during treatment. During this time, you should wear a sunblock with at least SPF 30. Your practitioner will discuss post-treatment care guidelines with you based on the condition treated.

You may notice some swelling and mild redness after VBeam treatment. There is also the possibility of bruising, which may last between one and two weeks. Treatment results will depend on the nature and extent of the problem.

Your skin, genetic make-up, lifestyle, and personal history are unique. They all contribute to how your skin looks and feels. For most people, maximum results are seen in 3-5 sessions that are usually spaced 4-6 weeks apart. We can develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual needs.

Topical anesthesia is applied before the procedure to minimize discomfort. The treatment can be compared to a rubber band snapping on your skin, with a heat sensation. After the treatment, most patients report feeling like they got too much sun. This usually disappears within 8 hours.

Like any cosmetic service, the results depend on your specific condition and the care you provide for your skin. Once you reach your desired goal, it is important to continue to protect your investment by using good skin care products and supplements. We will give you specific advice based on your needs and goals.

The VBeam pulsed dye laser system is designed to safely and effectively treat a multitude of vascular skin conditions, including rosacea, facial veins, scars, and red spots. Optimal results may require multiple treatments. Cold Sores: If you have a history of cold sores, ask us about pre-care instructions

Yes—while its primary focus is vascular issues, the laser can also address redness and discoloration associated with sun-exposed skin.

Most patients resume normal activities immediately. Makeup can typically be applied after one day unless otherwise advised.

VBeam® is safe across many skin types, but treatment should be adjusted for darker tones to avoid pigment changes or sensitivity.
